First install help

I am helping my friend upgrade her existing aftermarket stereo with a better one. I figured since it already had an aftermarket stereo, it should be fairly easy but the plug for the old unit doesn't fit into the back of the new unit. Is this because the other one was installed without a wiring harness? There are these crimped blue sleeves connecting the wires from the dash to the plug for the back of the head unit. What is the best/easiest way to get the new head unit in there? Also, if I can't figure this out can anyone recommend someone in the GTA to do it cheap (I already have the dash apart and old unit out).

What kind of vehicle? And the easiest way to do this is to get a wiring harness for that make and model.

Where in the GTA are you/the car located? I'm sure someone here wouldn't mind helping out if possible. The plug that goes directly in the head unit is specific to that brand/model of hu. It sounds like they did wire it directly to the factory wiring without the use of a harness

Yeah I figured they must have skipped the wiring harness after I got the dash apart. Its a 2000 Kia Sephia. We are in west end Toronto (keele/401).

I would pickup the harness and with that, it is a pretty simple job. Just follow the wire parings and you are golden.

If you aren't so confident in yourself, we could try to get together at some point and get er done! I'm at Warden & 401 M-F and could help between 12-1 otherwise I'm around Don Mills & DVP. We could try to get together and I'll give you a hand. Feel free to shoot me a PM.

I'm pretty confident I can do this, I build custom PC's and have had to do stuff like this before. Where can I grab a harness from? I have seen them online but we wanted to do this tonight after work.

Any Future Shop, Best Buy, Walmart or a car audio shop should have it. You just have to follow the wiring diagrams and match the colors, splice em together and call it a day

Just a quick glance at Futureshop's site tells me they are $17.99. On average they should be between $15-20.

2001 AudioVideo has them as well. I've had better luck with finding them at box stores vs. Car audio shops depending on your Make/Model.

I got the radio installed last night without a hitch. It was surprisingly easy and worked on the first try! Thanks for all the tips.
