Unhappy First install gone mostly smooth. mostly.

Ok I'm Hoping somebody here can give me some advice. I have a 1987 Buick Grand National and I've replaced the rear speakers with 6x9's (they barely fit but it works). The stock fronts are tiny 3.5"s so i upped it to 4"s and of course they fit the hole but the speakers are too deep. they sit up too high, They hit on the airflow ducts for the driver and passenger side air vent. I dont really mind cutting into the vent but I want to make sure i do everything properly first. So does anybody know how i would do this and of course close the vents back up again so its not blowing hot air under the dash. its not a winter car so i dont mind some reduced heat and i dont use the AC because i like having my windows down. anyway that enough rambling from me for now. thanks in advance guys.

Q Logic makes kick panels for the Grand National that will hold upto a 6.5" woofer and a 1" tweeter. They're easy to install. Much easier than cutting your dash up. And if you do decide to use them, sound deaden the rear of them. Just my 2 cents.

Wont they look weird holding 4"s in a panel the size of a 6.5" though? Plus the cost an arm and a leg. i might just buy concert sound 2 door panels and put the speakers in there.

They make 2 types of them. One comes with a grill and holds a 5.25 and the other is a flat blank and uses upto a 6.5 with the woofers supplied grill. They're not that expensive 189 and 199 but you can get 25% discounts on them. And they come in all the factory colours. And if you wanted to upgrade to a larger driver you have that option as well. Or you can do the concert sound door panels. Lots of options.

2 6x9's and no its not a turbobuick.com plug lol, i just know thats where i can get concert sound 2 lower door panels. concert sound 2 was an option from the factory to have an extra pair of speakers put in the door panels If you didnt get that option you have 4 speakers instead of 6 (the fronts are wired in series in CS2) And I'll post some pics of the car and the speakers in question. turns out i think i can fit them by trimming a bracket a little. the grille almost covers them without sticking up to much. im gonna sand down the grille (it's actually thicker where the speaker is so i can take out around an 1/8th of an inch).
