Smile First car! :)

I am brand new to this site and I have a few questions I was hoping someone could help me out with.

I just bought my first car, it's a 2013 Fiat 500 Sport.

My question is relating to it's audio system, I had originally wanted to get their "Beats premium audio group" packages, but would have had to wait a long time to get it from factory.

So I settled on the lower Alpine package, which I have put a screen shot of below.

It does not come with a sub, and I was wondering what is involved in adding an alpine sub to what I have now
I am very new to the world of car audio, and any advice is appreciated!

Thank you!

These are the package details of the system in my car now

And this caught my eye at bestbuy, and I was wondering if it would be a huge under taking to add this into my car?

That's a pretty decent deal for a sub/box/amp combo. I've installed a few of those amps and they always surprise me.

Any install shop should have no trouble at all adding this to your car.

Thanks for the reply.

I just figured out that enclosure won't fit in my car lol

So I may go with this one instead

Sony 12" Enclosed Compact Subwoofer (XS-GTX121LS) : 12" Subwoofers - Best Buy Canada

However, this one doesn't say powered, so I assume I need to buy an amp along with it?

No experience buying an amp either

If you are dead set on using Best Buy and Sony stuff, this amp will match that sony sub perfectly:

Sony GTX 800W Amplifier (XMGTX1302) : 2-Channel Car Amps - Best Buy Canada

Personally I wouldn't buy from Best Buy. If you look around the used market on Kijiji and here, you might find yourself better equipment for cheaper.

Ahh!

Thats awesome!

Thank you, so 2 channel amp is ok for 1 sub?
I thought you had to use a mono amp.

Also, can you give me your opinion, on a fiat 500 sport, obviously a small car..

A single Sony sub, will you even notice the difference? will you still feel the bass?

Thanks again

You will feel and hear an immediate difference. A 2channel amp is a good idea - if you choose to expand your system in the future you can put it on the front speakers and buy a larger sub amp.

I am not a fan of Sony car audio stuff. As im sure you figured out, space will be an issue with your car. You will probably need a custom built box in order to maximize your setup.

with that said, you will need a line out converter (LOC) in order to hook up most amplifiers. A 2 channel amp can be run in mono mode by "bridging" it. this opens up the opportunities where you cna now look at 1 or 2 channel amps.

To be honest, i registered so i could try to give som advice on this for you.

A big part of what makes a lot of us car audio guys tick, is the completionism (Yes, i made that word up) that we build this with our own hands, and i believe that you can achieve that, by building something like a closed enclosure for a subwoofer.

Plus, since you already have an amp in that car, you can splice the remote turn on lead from that amp, to you new amp, so all you need to run is some power wire, and find a good ground in your car. Car audio really is very simple when it's only the basics, but can get complicated. If you'd like you are free to msg me, and i shall answer to the best of my ability

Hope you go the route of building your own

factory style amps dont necessarily have an easy to find remote wire, and this is not even a big deal. I dont think that the existence of a factory amp is significant for this situation. adding an amp is easy, its finding the right components that work for you and your car.
