Door speakers

I have an f150 that has stock 6x8's. I have some pioneer 720's that are 6 3/4. It looks like they will fit but I don't know if I should bolt them directly to the door. If I make an adapter plate there won't be much room left after I cut the speaker hole out.

If the speaker isnt going to completely seal up in the factory opening then you gonna have to make an adaper plate or come up with another solution to seal it of or they will sound like $h!t

Yeah I wasn't sure if that mattered or not because there are other access holes in the door but I guess I will have to see what I can come up with.

Sorry to create more work for ya, but cover them up too lol. You will get better bass response.
I did mine on the cheap with heavy tape and also put some carpet underlay between the door and door panel to stop rattles, works for me. There is better ways to do it,(more $$) my cheap ol way yeilded pretty good results for me tho.

Can someone give me the simple explanation on this. The stock speakers sounded decent and the door was full of open holes. Will the new speakers sound worse or are you just not getting the full benefit from them.

Make proper adaptor plates and mount the new midbass driver in it. It will sound just fine.
