custom speaker placement?

My old car, I had 4 alpine component speakers. My new car, already has a Bose system, and the fronts have 9 inch woofers.

I'm looking for suggestions on where I can place my 2 front alpines. I was thinking about a kicker panel in the front doors, but I'm worried that its going to mess up the foot placement on the driver side.

I was also thinking of putting them on the dash in the front, but I'm also worried that it'll take too much of the windshield viewing space up.

The other thing I was thinking about is just making a 4 speaker box and having it sit on the seat/floor. The back seats would barely fit a 12 year old anyway.

I am kinda doing the SLAB thing here, but I really would like to stick to fiberglass boxes, and not weird cutting and stuff of my car.

SLAB?

What car?

Are you intending to augment the Bose system or replace it?

I want to add to it. The bose system is very good, but I also want to use my speakers. I got a HU for it already.

It's a Mazda RX-8 GT, based on a mustang.

SLAB is a texas term for slow loud and banging. It's mostly about old cadillacs and other such big cars. Professional SLABs have custom speakers everywhere. Like on that old pop tart commercial where they took the folding seat out and put a sub in. I just want them out of the way without cutting holes or weighing it the car down. Also In a safe place for me and them

You may have a tough time augmenting the Bose system as it really is a 'system' in that the deck/amp/speakers have been designed to work together and even tuned to the car they are in. I'm not saying it's impossible, just usually more work in the end than replacing it all from the start.

I will be slowly changing the speakers too. Right now I got a mid range Alpine head unit. Bose head units are generally tuned to bass, and Alpine is more about quality. The speakers are all already powered by amps, it just needs a different connector on the speaker wire to the headunit and a few Y adapters on the head unit.

I will be going to a DVD player later anyway. This Bose head unit doesn't even play MP3s, it's got a 6 disc changer instead
