Components as midbass?

Im looking for four 6.5" door speakers to replace factory ones. I have a dual 12" sub box in back on a mono amp and need more output up front to balance it.
I have factory components in the front doors so I would get a higher output set for that, but Im not sure about the rear doors. The rear speakers are right in the corner of the doors, so they are pretty close the front passengers butts. I am thinking of getting some kind of midbass drivers in there to help fill the low end between the fronts and the sub.
Most midbass specific drivers I have seen are 8" and expensive. Ive kinda run out of cash for this install, so I am wondering if I could get two sets of modestly priced components and just use the 6.5" drivers of one set for the rear doors and leave the tweeters out.
In that case, would I still use the component crossovers for the rear, or can I leave those out too and just use the filters on the 4channel amp? They are adjustable 40-400Hz.
I could set the front components to highpass around 200Hz, the rear doors lowpass around 200Hz, and leave the sub as is.
Does that sound like a good plan? Im not sure how components work, if for example they are 100wrms/4ohm and I leave out the crossover and tweeter, do I still set them up for those specs?
