Component Crossover Positioning
Where does everyone mount their crossovers for their front component speakers? Should I put the xover in the door itself or mount it in the car before the door? Is their a limit to how long the cable to the woofer/tweeter should be from the xover?
Much appreciated.

They say the door slamming could loosen components inside the crossover, but i'm sure , they are built strong enough to take some kind of an impact. ..
I just put them there cuz it was technically the only place I could with respect to how much wire I had lol

If u had room ,you could put them in your doors, but make sure they are properly covered and weather sealed.. people say its bad in doors, cuz they heard bad stories of idiots putting them in they're doors but not protecting them. It's only common logic..

kind of depends on how big it is, the door design, and how easy it is to run wire through the door jams. Some interior door panels, particularly luxury or larger vehicles, have space in the them to tuck a small cased x over into with no problems of moisture, or even impact as they are sponge lined. The small x overs are so light that they really don't take much of a beating from the doors opening and closing. It's still a good idea to put them as close to the hinges as possible as this reduces the impact on them, and don't slam your doors. Ofcourse, you could go active and not have to worry about the passives at all!
