car amp not good?
#1
I recently had an amp installed that i got from someone and the installation was professional but the amp is not putting out any power. There is slight sound comming from it but not very much.
It is a Kenwood KAC-821
When it is powered up a red light goes on.
Does that mean it is in safe mode?-->how would i Know?
any help is greatly apprecisted.

yes I believe the red light means it is in safe mode, so I would recommend replacing the fuse, since you got it used it may have been blown, or the amp could of been fried (i.e. reason for sell?) but try changing the fuse if that doesnt work, take it back to the installer...

If it is not in safe mode, then what could be causing the problem?
-when i connect my portable cdplayer to the amp it plays fine.
-could it be someting with my new cd-deck, I had it installed with the amp
-its a Pioneer DEH 1500

obviously a HU OR RCA prob, you did the right thing by trying another source unit, and if it played, your amp is ok. Possible HU trouble, OR bad RCA, if you can run a temporary set of RCA's to your deck, and plug them in and the amp works, then you know its the rca's, if not, its your deck. Try to eliminate each 1 to find out whats wrong
