you really shouldnt,im running 500-600 WRMS on a 100 amp alt. and dont need it. I think there was somthing wrong with your old car unless you were pulling 1000 WRMS just for the sub, but still seems like there was somthing else wrong... A cap is some what of a "band-aid" for a sys IMO.

consider an alternator as well.

a properly designed capacitor will actually help a little bit. however, most capacitors sold now are more focused on looks rather than performance. low ESR is the key

Never had any problems with blowing alts. Even at the moment with over 4000rms, and a 70 amp alt, not a single problem.

surely you jest.... 70 amp alternator to cover like 640 amps? you must keep the volume down quite nicely....

Really how much current do you pull daily driving anyway? No 600amps. No one can listen to 150 dB music for longer then a few seconds. For comps the car is off so it doesn't hert anything, actully better not to have a cap. But I should mention I have a Optima group 31 batt, so that helps.

Still No

Get an orbital extreme or a yellow top. If you have a 100amp alt right now, it will be fine as long as you have the right battery. Youre not pulling too much power, so i'd say definately get a new battery and do up your grounds and other wires well first. Alt's can be very expensive.
