here's the wiring diagram, sorry no scanner so I tried the digicam
Ok I got no "black box" on the back of my alternator, but there is a main + output (into the big split loom) and a ground - output going to the aux battery neg terminal, both avout 8 gauge
here you can see the fuse in the dist center it's a black 8 gauge in from the alt and a red 8 guage to the battery
a 2 guage wire runs from the main to aux battery and actually the main grounds are 2 guage too
hope some of that helps ......just ignore the insane mess under my hood, I havn't cleaned it all summer

I took some pics but I not to sure how to post them I know on the DTR I have to put them in my galery first but..?
From your pics it looks a little diferent in mine comes out of the alt to a blac box that is bolted to to studs on the side of the alt (box is about 2" long and 1x.5"TW) the box looks like its all heat welded together making it part of the harness. From there it splits to 3 but they all head to the drivers side in a big harness. If its just a fuse and I can parallel it then cool I have a couple of water proof units laying arround. I have done the grounds from both batts already but didnt know about grounding the alt I assumed since it was bolted to the engine it would suffice. My system will be
2 X SS1000 references @2ohms each for the subs
2 X PPI 2150AMs @4ohms each for the front mid basses and tweets
1 X PPI 4200AM @ 4ohms for the rear components.
So if pushed around 2800w @ 12V
I got a great set of 5 1/4s for the kicks but saddly Im out of amp room
If you pm me your email I will shoot you a pic of this thing so you can see it, from what I can see its not bolted to the side of your alt.
Thanks for the help

K I got your pics in the email...
Still, two options - Run cables directly from the alternator to the batteries, unfused, or, if you want to retain the stock fuses, you can do the following:
REPLACE that 8 gauge in the picture above of "Dodgeram"'s. The one from the alternator to the 140 amp fuse he has pictured. Replace it with as big as you got, 4, 2, or 2/0, or whatever. Then, run cables from the other side of that fuse to the batteries. This gives you the big 3 upgrade you're looking for, but retain's the stock alternator fuse.

Thanks GrizZz
I will look into taking the disribution block (or what ever it is) on the alt apart tommorow and seing if I can change the wires. The wiring diagram above dosent show the black box I took pics of so I know about the 140 amp fuse in the fuse box cause I blew it once when the oil filter wrench bumped the alt stud one day so I dont think the thing on the alt is a fuse?

Oh... sorry, no, the blakc box hanging off the back of the alterntor is just a big cluster of wires, there's not actually anything in the box, it's just there to give the wires shape...
So don't even think about the box, ignore it. ADD additional cables to the alternator, don't cut off the old one. If you're replacing the stock 8ga as discussed earlier, just cut or tape the end at the fuse, not at the alternator.

just got your pics
yeah that's just a dist block on your alt (not the proper term I know)
the 2 small wires are you feild pole coils and are use to control the alternator output from the pcm
the big one (8 guage) should be your alt output ....... replace that wire as grzz suggested
