Question Bass canon installation questions

I want to add a jbl bass canon to my stock system in 1999 ford Ranger. I havent done much car audio stuff before.
I am planning to put it behind the driver's seat and splicing existing speaker wire from the rear speaker on that side. Is this ok?

I am not sure about the power and ground.

1.Just connect ground to some metal part of the car body?

2. Can I solder a power wire to a cigarette lighter adapter and use that to avoid digging around for a power wire?

3.If I do have do dig around for a power wire, where should I look?

4.Are there any safety precations with playing around with the live wire?

I would appreciate any feedback

Yes look for a solid piece of metal, clean and sand it to remove any dirt or paint. Obviously where you will not see it.

2. Can I solder a power wire to a cigarette lighter adapter and use that to avoid digging around for a power wire?
No depending on the JBL product you are using and the draw it may draw over the fused limit of the lighter. A model number would help but always avoid doing this on higher draw type components. You should run power to an amp directly to the battery both fused under the hood and 12" from the amp give or take.

3.If I do have do dig around for a power wire, where should I look?
Again connect to battery.

4.Are there any safety precations with playing around with the live wire?
Yes make the un-live by disconnecting the battery before installing gear.

If you have a model number of the unit you are installing we can dig further into the requirements. Not sure if this has aremote turn on lead or not. Also if it has a high level input tapping in your rear speakers for signal is fine however if it has a left and right you should tap both as the internal amp may require signal from both to feed the amp for full output.
