Barrage of Qs
kk. i have a bunch of questions to you pros out there.
i plan on doing a false floor in my truck, setting my 2 amps in the wheel well, basically covering them with plexi glass and showing them flat, close to the plexi.. Am i going to have heat issues? And as im thinkin the answer is yer, whats the best way to deal with it? or is this a bad idea to start with?
I picked up 2 realm 10" subs at 400watt rms, a 1100wat d mono block and a 600watt 4 channel.. Am i going to need a stiffening cap or anything else for my car to go along with this?

One way to make sure you won't have any heat issues with the amps enclosed like that is to have ventilation in there. You can buy some computer fans for relatively cheap that work on 12V. Hook these up to your radio remote via a relay so they're only on when the amps are on as well, and you shouldn't have any problems. I'd recommend having one to pull air into the wheel well and one as exhaust back into the rest of the trunk.
As for the cap, you probably won't need one. Most of the time, they only cover up the problem and don't actualy fix anything. If you run into voltage drop issues, try upgrading your "big 3" before hand. That normaly helps a lot. If you don't know what it is, look in the general discussion section, there's a sticky thread up there about it posted by Father Yuli that explains it very clearly.

Definitely going to have heat issues. Use two to four 3" computer fans to push air into the space and allow a vent on the other side. Hook all the fans up to either push air in or pull air out but not a combination of both. Leave some room over the top of the amps so that the heat at least has somewhere to go to rather than just sit on the top of the amp. A inch minimum for clearance.

Ok, i figure maybe the best way then is to just mount my amps flush with the false floor and skip on the plexi glass. should that be good enough for cooling if the tops are open air to the trunk? or do i need more yet on the underside of the flase floor?
I'll upgrade that big 3 like they mentioned, just a matter of finding the right size fuse, and actually finding the fuse assembly that works for it.
Also, the wire my stereo shop gave me was 4 gauge. figure that wouldn't be a problem using that to run from my battery to my amps?'
