Here is the scoop:
I have an Eclipse 5441 head unit. It has served me well for at least 5 years. It was last in my Saturn whish it worked flawlessly. I recently sold my Saturn where the deck was pulled and sat in my living room for about 6 months.
Today I decide I am going to put it in my 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I used the factory harness adaptor to make life simple. After I fire it up, everything looks to be fine. Asks for the key cd which I provide it, it accepts it and looks like were done. Nope. The CD player doedn't seem to work. I can hear the cd spinning inside, the cd time is moving like it should, but no sound. I think "Huh, I must not have hooked up the speakers correct". Nope, everything is done. I now switch to Radio and whaddya know, it works. Full sound from radio.
So I try to disconect power and fire it back up again and the same thing keep happening.
Any ideas?

Id take it to a shop to look at it.... if you are lucky maybe the laser just needs to be cleaned/retracked..... (you can try this yourself if you know what ur doing)
If its shot and you need a new laser it could get pricey I'm sure... youd have to decide if its worth it to you or not....
Hmmmm... actually I think the first thing I might do is call eclipse and see what they say...

I would guess the laser is fine as it reads the Key CD fine and the display actually shows track and time.
I have emailed Eclipse to see if they can help.
Who distributes Eclipse now? I don't even know where to send it.
I was thinging about taking it to Future Shop and trying to exchange it j/k

you got factory amps in that cherokee .........if so the remote amp turn on wire needs to be energized to turn em on ......this is just a guess is it possible you have the power antenna wire hooked up ionstead of the remote turn on so it only powers up the amps with the radio....just grasping at sraws here
