now there is enough info

running 8 instead of 4 ohm makes for an easier current load on the amp, and it could actually improve performance but with fewer watts => so less work (lower spl)

Inexpensive amps are not always a bad thing

I agree Johnny, more than likely an air-leak .
How is the wire running into the cabinet? Is it a plugged up hole? or a proper speaker terminal?
I presume the 6x9's are in their own chambers?

Yes, the 6x9's are in there own chambers. And it was just a hole sealed up with liquid nails because I hadn't gotten a chance to go to the nearest car audio store. But I did pick up some wire terminals yestarday and should have them installed tonight.
