Alternator Upgrade

Hi all,

Excited to find this forum and get involved in serious car audio discussion. I have visited two locations in Calgary, Mobile Audio Solutions and Mobile Audio Concepts, in the effort to install two RE Audio XXX 12's with a Soundstream Class D Monoblock amplifier.

From talking to Andy @ Concepts, I now understand I will be wiring these subs at 2 ohm and will thus require ~145amps of power as the maximum output generated at 1 ohm 1%THD through the amp is 280 amperes DC.

I've been trying relentlessly to upgrade my amplifier to feed these beasts but it has been an extremely difficult process. I have contacted a commercial supplier who is very abrasive and non cooperative and also posted a local ad on kijiji with some response. I notice that these high output alternators are also available online.

I have my spec books for the equipments handy and would appreciate any constructive comments.

Thanks,
JC

I've never had a system that drew enough current to require an upgrade of an alternator.
However, here's a very reputable brand/site that may have what you're looking for...
Knukonceptz Alternator Intro <<< LINK.

For clarification, could you post the make/model of the amplifier and subs (pictures would be awesome)? I doubt that the person helping you was leading you astray, but it won't hurt to have a few more opinions on the matter.

https://www.dcpowerinc.com/ If you want to play in the 200 amp range with ease.

Tragics link is a great affordable solution and certainly no slouch either.

Powermaster or Mechman would be the alternator choice I'd suggest for you.
