Alpine ina-w900 fitting
Car:
2001-2005 Passat
Background:
Had an iva-w505 installed at Best Buy, since my car came w/double din OEM radio, tech said I need no dash kit. everything fit well, but to my surprise the deck was sticking out by a bit. I thought this was due to the motorized front.
Now I went from an iva-w505 to ina-w900. the front sticks out just as much.
But in addition, I find that even the plastic frame around it as sticking out and that the unit inst IN all the way, yet it doesn't want to go IN more.
Ive checked around, and almost ALL cars I see with my unit, have it IN the centre console all the way IN, and nothing sticking out.
Here is a few pics of my unit in my car:
VS other cars

or pretty much any pic on google... they are ALL flush with the centre colsole
The question:
Is this due to the fact that I have no special dash kit, or the fact that my factory metal din is still in there, and I should have gotten a different one?

after some googling it looks like the kit/trim should fit better in the dash, but the deck itself usually fits the way it is in your car. Some cars it fits better than others. This is why car decks are becoming less and less popular. Nothing's universal anymore.

No kidding. Couple that to the fact that the Passat is a total bastard to get a deck into and, well, you have the results pictured.
