2011 Hyundia Tucson speaker installation

Hi everyone.
1) I want to swap the front & rear speakers on this 2011 Tuscon limited edition to Pioneer or Infinity. Crutchfield told me I have to take off the 4 inside door panels to access the 4 speakers.
My experience with all my preivous 3 Honda were simply pop off the grill & remove 3 screws, 10 miniute job each.
Can anyone advise me how to remove the panel & how hard is the job.
I dont trust those young kids installers next to Future/Bestbuy with a brand new car.

2)I have to keep OEM radio or else lose the steering vol control, bluetooth etc. If I put an old Pioneer amplifier to the rear speakers, I shall have to use the amp's speaker wire input. My thinking is connecting the wires from the oem wire to the amp input & route the new amp spk output wire back to the speaker. Am I correct.?
I imagine it will be complicate as the speakers are inside the doors, not on the shelf & trunk like a sedan.

TIA

Most cars have a small amp on the inside of the trunk wall so maybe you won't need to splice the HU signal, and some stock amps are a b!tch to bypass - mine weren't color-coded. If it doesn't, you can splice the signal. You can buy adapter clips, however some are $120. Not specifically, I don't know about that car but it should be easy - panels pop off and there's a few screws, the same as any other vehicle. Though with some vehicles you have to take apart the entire dash to get at a speaker.

Get the Pioneer's.

Blue tooth comes through the stereo? What? Isn't it just wireless internet? If it is, maybe it can be relocated.

Steering volume control is pretty useless, the dials are like 6" away lol.

Newtech, find yourself a good independent shop, there are some on this very forum in the vendor list. That way you will be getting the highly predictable outcome you are looking for without a installer using your car as a guinea pig. BB and FS do have some good installers, I have trained some personally over my many years in car audio. Don't loop them all in the same category. These "kids" are also the ones that usually excel with this type of work and have a vested interest in doing it. BB and FS also have full guarantees on workmanship and would look after you in a second should there be something wrong with the work done.

As far as steering wheel controls go, Lord Huggypants might not have had a vehicle with them before. I have had many and I prefer to keep my hands on the wheel instead of mucking around with controls that quite often require me to take my hands off the road. You can get a very good cd player in the Kenwood Excelon line that will have A2DP bluetooth onboard and it is 99% of the time relatively simple to add the steering wheel interface to regain the use of the controls that you do not want to lose.

Hi.
Thanks for the info from both of you.
MR2NR hit the right spot. I dont want my new car be a guinea pig.
Today, I talked with 1 FS install guy (not to mention location). He charges $160 labor for front & rear speakers, $320 labor to install a new HU, incl volume adaptor, b-t adaptor. HU & speakers are of course extra. It is not worth it.

Another Chinese shop in Scarbough asked for $100 for 2 pairs installation.

I was told most OEM radio do not have any pre-outs at the rear.

Forget abt changing the HU now with the cost, I shall change the speakers 1st to see if the sound is improved. I am now thinking order 1 pair Infinity 6-1/2 from Crutchfield since they give detail install instruction. If I found it too complicate, then shall get them install professionally, & do the 2nd pair afterward.

It is a good idea to look at the vendor list to look up some good ref guy.

$320 labour for a 30 minute job, not including any gear? Wow.

I'm not dissing ALL FS's but the one here on Prince Edward Island is really unprofessional.

There main installer told me that under powering my Morels would blow them within a week, And he looked so dead serious about it. He nearly refused to install them because he thought the mid wouldn't even fit in the door.

After installing them, I said did you put anything spare in the speaker box? He said yeah everything that I didn't use is in there. Well I got home and looked inside the box and I was missing some parts for the flush mounted tweeter, And some clips for the mid cover.

I called back and told him and he basically said there's no way he forgot to put anything back, I called him a lying piece and and that I paid a lot of money for those speakers and that he steals parts.

Also, When they do an amp install the try to keep the rest of the unused wire from your installation kit...

The guys that work in the bay at FS here on P.E.I are all pieces of , And they don't know what they're talking about and they steal .

But hey...that's just here on P.E.I

Well, for $320, it's labor + plastic flush mount housing, wire harness, vol control interface, blue tooth interface. He said at least 2-3 hours. May be those interfaces are expensive.

I have done my 2 honda 1 acura HU installation myself. Most difficult part is taking out the oem hu housing from dash without scratching them. I am not a professional & it took me abt 1 hour each time.

May be I look like a sucker.

By the way, can anybody tell me where to get a good panel removal tool besides Crappy-tire. The 1 @ Crutchfield has bad reviews being easily broke.

Actually, some installers at FS/BB do some very clean work.
(I am an installer as FS myself!)

I've done a few Tucsons and they are pretty easy to take apart.
Remove the mirror cover, remove a few screws from the side of the door panel as well as one under the mirror cover, a screw on the door lever (covered up) also remove the trim around the lever. a screw in the handle.
Pry the panel and disconnect the two connectors.

Pretty simple! just make sure you have some spacers, they dont have much mounting depth

Hopefully this helps you

Thanks a lot Jboy2

No offend to you as an installer.
Few years back, my brother had a bad experience in M---m FS installation. I later found out for him, the wire harness behind the HU was like a bunch of snakes twisted & stuffed together. He cut the Honda connector & directly butt-connected the wires to the HU's wires. He did not bother the extra cost using an adaptor which is under $10 wholesale. This makes the next new HU installation less easy.

Every profession has their own bad apple.

I am ordering the speaker from Crutchfield & let me see if their master sheet can guide me thru the process. Will report afterward.

Thanks everybody !!!

Snap On has a very good set of panel tools. If it is not too late for the speaker order, personally, Infinity would never land in my own vehicles due to my personal taste on how they sound.
