2010 ram 1500 questions

hey all, so i just bought a new ram a few weeks ago and am quickly missing the 12s i had in my previous truck, so im looking to upgrade from the factory head unit.

so here's my questions, i currently have sirius radio in the truck (factory setup) which i want to keep, is this possible with a new deck? like straight plug and play style, or am i gonna have to buy a new unit to run off the deck?

and question number 2, ive been told ill need a module to hook up an aftermarket deck that will run me about 180$ anyone know where i might find one for less? so far its lookin like an extra like 350$ if i need that module and a new setup for sirius if i have to replace that as well, PLUS the new HU.

so yea if anyone knows the help would be appreciated

thanks.

ps its the non infinity no steering control non nav setup right now.

I now live in the Calgary area and can help you out as well. You cannot continue to use the Sirius unit in the truck unfortunately. You may be able to salvage the use of the antenna from what I can recall. You will need the proper wire harness for sure, the kit, the antenna adaptor, a Sirius radio tuner + interface + new headunit.

The Sirius radio unit is built into the factory HU? or is the module completely different than the retail ones. It'd be great if you could just get a Sirius connector module for your aftermarket HU and plug it into the factory Sirius unit, but that'd probably make everyone's life far too easy.

Also a line out converter might be your best bet. If in the future you decide that you really do want an aftermarket HU then you can easily upgrade to it. With the lineout you get to retain your factory deck and everything else will just keep on working.

The factory Sirius module (specifically the tuner portion) can't interface with the aftermarket gear. There are Alpine/Pioneer/JVC etc direct adapters, however they are their own unit; where the deck is the tuner, and all you're getting in the box is the sender/receiver and antenna. Sometimes you can remove the factory clip on the antenna wire and use the factory antenna instead of mounting a new one. My suggestion would be either a LOC or a better unit like a Rockford 3sixty, Audison BitOne, or other sort of interface
