2 - 8"s in 1 box

I would like to know if anyone was ever put SCV 8's into a sealed box by mounting 1 outa the back [ basket and magnet free air ]and the other mounted normally, both firing same direction and running stero signal? Thoughs, opnions, help plz!

well if your rear sub was just inverted into the sealed enclosure, then it wouldn't be free air, it would still be sealed, just inverted. Having them wired both in phase.. now i think that would just be like isobaric loading.. cause they're assisting eachother there.

Now if you have them facing each other, and running the smae phase, then they will want to rip each other apart.
If you have them side by side, and in phase then they will cancell each other out.
If you have them facing each other, out of phase then they will be isobariclly loaded.
If you have then side by side, out of phase then there are not that different than having then both mounted normally, in phase.

but he'll have them facing eachother.. but not your typical face to face loading.. if they were face to face, you'd have them out of phase so that they're moving in the same direction.. anyways, i still think if you're having 1 inverted and 1 not, that you will want them out of phase..

Out of phase ? The amp isn't that smart, the only changes I can make would be to flip pos and neg feeds to speakers [ is this what you mean by out of phase ? ] This box thought comes from the requirment for good sound with limited power [ 75 w rms x 2 @ 4ohms streo ] and small SCV subs. As well as limited space in trunk.

^ I like to use the term "polarity" instead of phase since phase is so much more complex.
I read John's post as a dual woofer box but one woofer inverted so yes the inverted woofer would be wired in reverse polarity.
If John meant a single woofer box and a clamshell isobaric arrangement, well still the outer woofer is wired in reverse polarity. With current generation 8s that will be one tiny tiny box though

Not new sub's , 7 - 8 yr old pioneers marked for sealed only . I would like to mount 1 sub at the back of box , basket out , 1 sub mounted normally in front of box . In about a 1 cft box. It should look like a awsomely deep single 8 IF it flys.
