once your system gets "good" it's a lot of very small things to get it "better"
I try everything imaginable that's free or cheap and easy, and go from there.

The other thing is, not all songs have midbase you can feel, it's album\song dependant. Sometimes the midbase just isn't there.

i run the ml165's myself and right now the best thing i ever did for those speakers was get that tweeter up in the a pillar! makes a huge diff. feel free to contact me with any questions about them as for the midbass those 6" drivers love power give it to them they can play down to 35 so use that your deck should have some settings for crossovers as well as your amps

ya, i've tried putting the tweeter higher up on the A piller, and it helps in some respect, but then if i do, i am exaggerating that separation between the tweeter and 6.5". they are simply too far apart from each other.
my deck doesn't have crossovers. just my amps.
i want to still have that headroom to blast them for when im in the mood for some loud music, and if i have them crossed close to 35, they are reaching their mechanical limits at too low a volume.

weirdo, what kind of power are you putting to yours?

...i should make it clear, these speakers are amazing, there is midbass. but as MTT put it, "once your system gets "good" it's a lot of very small things to get it "better"
I try everything imaginable that's free or cheap and easy, and go from there.".

thats exactly what i am trying to do

my speakers get alot of power... they get about 250rms for each midrange and 250rms for each tweeter... i overkill just a bit lol...... my mids are in my kicks and the tweet is in the a pillar.... separation.... not an issue

i should note, right now i have them crossed at 55 to test it out and see how i like them.

250rms for the woofer and tweeter!!
how long have you been running them like that?

i may be missing something, but if my 165rms is enough to push them to their limits (with no distortion), how will having alot more power improve them. their mechanical limits aren't going to increase.

The RMS rating of speakers isn't "mechanical limit", it is a heat dissipation rating.
Mechanical limit has more to do with frequency and enclosure type then anything else.

ya i realize it isn't the mechanical limit, i was just saying that is they are rated for 150rms, my 165rms can push them to their limits, wouldn't 500 turn them into little grenades? lol

ya definitely. once you told me what you were running and hwo they were setup, i can see how they would be fine.

lol, i should be cursing you right now...after seeing your setup, you have me wanting to spend money and do a bunch to mine. possibly an 8" in the glove box. i wonder how that would sound?
