Horn question.

Do you mean that pic where he is holding the giant horn? That pic has been refuted by those who own GNs/Regals/G-bodies because they say a horn of that size could not possibly fit anywhere under the dash. The Holdaways, who built the car said it was impossible too but RC maintains those were in there. Either that or he won't directly answer that question, I can't remember which.
But yeah, what Kilowatt said is correct.

It's not the horn that is in question, it is the huge Altec drivers RC has on them in the pic. The Holdaway's built the horn lense's and used a small format compression driver, RC's pic has a massive Altec 288 on it which the Holdaways claim would have never fit....who knows...

RC claims alot about that car that he can not back up with photogtraphic eveidence. Go on Carsound and ask about the 4" mids under the dash and wait for the firestorm! Harry Kimura removed the glove box at the Masters Invitational and saw the same drivers SpeakerWorks used on the horns and no 4" drivers. Who do you want to believe?

See now before I knew about that 4" mid controversy, I was talking with Dukk and I could have SWORN I saw a pic of those 4s a long time back. Maybe I confused it with a pic of a different car but it's odd that I remember it being that way and then I read about the carsound thread.

The bigger the horn, the lower they play...ok, I get it.
Yea, there's a lot of stuff, that that car "has/had" but RC won't say anything about. Like all the little black boxes that were in the car.
Those drivers that are in the pics look HUGE, I can't see them fitting under the dash but then again, there was a ton of modification done to that car. Also, no brand-names on the drivers...those 15's....Altec as well?

The 4" speakers were originally put in for competition...because they were using large 12" woofers for midbass...at lower volumes the midbass overpowered the front stage and became directional making the sound come from behind...they installed the mids to equalize the front stages presence when the system was played at low volumes and had a computer control when the 4" mids turned on when set to a certain volume...this technic was nesecary in order to compete in a SQ event @ IASCA...but the idea was probably trashed because of its complexity.
That's what I heard anyways.

That whole car was strictly for competition. It was not used as a dialy driver (it was driven once in a while though). I remember reading Eric Holdaway posts that said that. If you really want to know anyhting about the car just email Eric Holdaway, since they no longer own the car he seems much more willing to share what was considered "secret" back when it competed.
Oh and speakerworks still sells the sub and midbass drivers used in that car.
