i have a few cars that would tell a different story, in fact one that won the world finals this year. perhaps kicker doesnt know as much about their products as they think. ib is a very specialized application and isnt for everyone and maybe the tech guy from kicker is just trying to protect the speakers for being missapplied and intended for the wrong purpose

Make sure the Trunk is COMPLETELY sealed from the inside of the car.

if the front wave(in phase)interacts with the rear wave(out of phase) you can get varying amounts of cancellation. in other words the front and rear wave can decrease the output, sometimes dramatic losses, othertimes not so dramatic depending on the amount of interaction.

A lot of drivers will work fine in an IB setup ............. for a while. But once they break in often the suspension doesn't provide enough control and then they start to go into the tank sonically. So while many of you guys may state that such and such a driver sounds great in an IB application .............. that may be only fine for the short term. Bottom line is buy the right thing that works for your application. Don't get fished in by war stories and cheap pricing.

^ IB in any car is merely a large sealed box. In fact, most IB setups don't have enuf volume to really be infinite baffle but merely an oversized sealed enclosure.
And what do we know 'in general' about oversized sealed boxes?
