#1
hey,
I need some advice, can anybody tell me which one is better. I really dont care about the the eclipse being able to play dvd and the poineer not, just want to know what does the eclipse have that the pioneer doesn't because i dont mind spending a little extra if its worth the money.
thanks

I think it comes down to whether your focus is on audio performance versus navigation performance.
The Eclipse would have an advantage with its' 5 volt 55 ohm outputs (versus Pioneer's 2.2 volt 100 ohm) if you are building a system with multiple amplifiers. The Eclipse also has a DSP built-in for soundfield control plus a 9-band EQ. The Pioneer's EQ is a 3-band parametric & also has built-in high-pass/low-pass crossovers which is very good for most applications, but no DSP. If not, the Pioneer has a stronger amplifier at 22 watts x 4 RMS vs. 15 watts x 4 for the Eclipse. The Pioneer will also play WMA CD-R/CD-RW discs (Eclipse doesn't) & also offers iPod control with the CD-IB100 iPod interface.
The Navigation portion is really where the Pioneer performs. It has more data (15GB vs. 8.5GB), more POI (points of interest) 11 million vs. 5.62 million, more coverage (all of US & Canada) & more satellite interface options (both XM & Sirius plus XM NavTraffic in the US).
If your vehicle also has factory steering wheel controls you can get an adapter from PAC to use the wired remote input on the Pioneer so that you can use your factory controls to control the Pioneer.
Lastly, the Pioneer screen has a slightly better resolution at 336,960 pixels versus 280,800 for the Eclipse.
All in all, I guess it comes down to what features & performance are more important to you & how that fits into your budget.
Good luck!

Having seen the feature differences between them, the only thing that remains is actual SQ between the two units, on the same speakers. And then it's a matter of personal taste.
So, J I , let us know which one you liked, and hopefully why ?
