Ask Me Anything About Audio System Design
#471
he doesn't seem like a monster to me just a man fighting back against being censored when so far i haven't read a word or statement that is any worse then what i've read on cca so far.
this man has been constantly misquoted just as he claims
so far on my first night on cca, i am not impressed everyone seems like ********

he has written a text book more than one - haven't you figured out who he is it only took me 10 minutes on google after i read is brief bio.
he does a lot more than teaching that was one of his old jobs and he is a well known audiophile and has been involved in manufacturing for long time. it's likely that you have owned something that he's designed. seriously he gave us a large list of things to narrow down who he is. I am thinking that he might be wishing that he didn't after how you all received him. and diem if you’re a high level guy like dog is it isn't likely that you’re as high he's into everything audio, just as he said.

dude you aren't being fair you did say what he claimed. and there has been nothing technical in your rebuttals and it seems .......seriously who the hell do you think that you are? if you work in the same fields as he does, if i was you i would hope to God that he doesn't figure out who i am.
entertaining it is
Newguy you have been hitting the TOOL button a little hard, please calm down and stop playing games at the same computer as Dog.... man is it me of does he remind me of Dave

Google " comb filtering" and 'standing waves', 'in room response', near field vs far field frequency response', 'room gain' 'baffle step compensation' 'diffraction' 'lobing' 'phase rotation' 'stereo imaging' and you'll find all the explanations, graphs, and white papers you want, that will put a fine point on why you've got a steep uphill battle when trying to create an audio system within the constraints of a car cabin that's linear and has a flat frequency response, and is in phase.
I'm not in the car audio game. I'm in the audiophile game, and was invited by the sons of a good friend of mine, who have gotten into car audio.
They're always asking about things they've read on car audio forums, only to find out that there are many laws of physics that are completely ignored, or overlooked, in car audio.
all are very valid statements but when you consider everything that we are up against to make a car audio system sound good, isent it amazing that we can get our cars to sound as good as they do, when we follow the laws of physics, common sense, good design philosophy, and a little body english... oh and for the record... i stand firm in the belief that excellent sound reproduction in a car is a huge waste of time and money, because as soon as we get up to hyway speed all that sq goes out the window and our excellent sounding cars now only sound good.. no matter how excellent it sounds parked in the driveway with no traffic, at 3 am... so i must be the king of the retards as i have spent the last 21 yrs. building sq cars and spending at least 50k on it..... but i must say i am driven by the purity of the music in a hostile enviroment, and it tests my skill as a fabricator, engineer, painter, bodyman, mechanic, and to a lesser part, juggler of wife, life, and strife...

you do realize that dog said free field as in outside at 100 feet? put your head 3 feet from the mouth on this thing and you'd be at 182db. put in a building and it would go higher. that’s just on a meter, to a human standing nearby it could very well be the loudest, scariest occurrence of their life...
then build one in a car since it it easy and obviously superior (and an academic should love this) don't just say it, do it. besides this is a car audio forum

Yes, I told him to go there multiple times. He would fit nicely, see he even blamed his wife for the trolling, hahaha.
