To answer all of your questions:
1. The pioneer unit does play VCD's and MPEG's however they have to be encoded in the correct format or it won't work. Both of us used to have a 7300DVD from last year and figured out the specs then. Now everything works beautifully. There's nothing like watching your music while listening to it (ie. music videos)
2. If I told you the price that I paid I would probably have to kill you and myself after. I got the unit for a smokin deal. I overheard that it's supposed to sell here for an easy $4000 - $4200. I could be wrong but that's what I overheard. However if you convert the MSRP to CAN it only wokrs out to around $3500 - $3700. I only paid close to $2000. That's all I am going to say, nothing more, nothing less.
3. As per the finger print issue as was worried just the same. We thought we'd use the remote most of the time and still do. We didn't want to have to clean our hands every time we touched the unit. However, Pioneer finally smartened up this year and provided cleaning solution and a dust-free/static-free cloth to wipe down the screen. I am impressed; It took them long enough.
Now, I have a question. I didn't think that the Alpine had any face-off security. Can someone confirm this for me? It only lists that is has FantonFace Tech., which is when the entire deck sort of folds into itself. I have already seen it before on Alpine's higher-end decks. So could someone please find out?
Furthermore, what sort of pricing can you guys find on the IVA-D900 unit from Alpine. I was considering getting one but I couldn't find any deals whatsoever on the unit. Every single shop was giving me MSRP. I only shop locally because I want a warranty and service, plus I support local shops. Has anyone shopped around for this unit?
Thanks.

Two last questions though, does the Alpine read VCD's/Mpeg's? Secondly, how's the quick search feature on the deck is it the same as din-size, non-screen units (ie. 9815)?
Thanks Underdog.
