What do I need

i don't personally think you NEED 500-700w to run these subs, and sound decently. 300 to each will do a decent job, but it never hurts to have some extra power so you aren't try'n to push the amp to the absolute limits.
as for above, i thoguht about the .5ohm option, but don't know many amps that put out 1000w at .5ohms, or many every day amps that do .5 ohms off the shelf (consistantly for a long period that is) - that being said most of these guys probably know more than me.

just did 2 10 inch in a srt4, and used a jblgto1201.1, and lets just say it was painful, and about 800.00 should do it for the amp, but it could be had for about 700.00, and the new alpine mrdm1005 should sell for about 799.00 and it will do over 1000 at 2 ohms, and is VERY compact in size! Voice coil impedance does not dictate the power you need.

He is looking for one sub amp.
As for a 1000watt @2ohm Class D monoblock - take your pic dude. This has to be one of the most popular sizes on the planet.

since we are kinda discussing ohm load to..if i were to get 2 dual 2 avalanches and my amp was a NINe.1 stable @1ohm could i run the wiring in a paralellel to a .5ohm. or would that make my amp exploded or something lol...sorry offtopic from this one
