W7 vs concept CSP-15...

I often wonder why others have a problem quoting people.
I would only extend that amount of money for a JL sub knowing that it is the best of the best, and that the only way to get the best is to buy this sub for X number of thousands of dollars. Then again, there's so much controversy it discourages me from making my own educated guess, and I get confused as to whether it's BS reasoning or good reasoning. Therefore, no money is spent and the music/car audio industry suffers.
To some it appears that if what they hear and see pleases them the most, money won't likely get in the way of acquiring that peice of equipment. The W7 sells after all, doesn't it?

So I guess on JL's standard products like the W0 and W3 line they have no engineering and design in those products? I would love to hear how that is different?

I have owned both subwoofers in various sizes and I would have to agree with alot of you who don't like the price of a JL but its price is slowly coming down.
The build quality on the JL is second to none, with the CSP's having many points for improvement.
Both subs are good for making low frequencies very loud but I would still lean towards the JL getting louder given the MUCH higher mechanical limits. I would even think its louder with anything over 500wrms
If it were me planning to buy a subwoofer to last me 5+years I would go for the JL.
I have some JLW7 excursion videos that are pretty cool if anyone wants to see it moving 3+inches

JL designed AND did the original tooling of the W7 parts individualy each for a particular purpose and target end goal. That is design.

once again, i repeat. my preference for Concept has nothing to do with anything except my experiences with both products (13-14 yrs with JL, and 2 yrs with Concept). i like Concept and am smart enough to have respect for what JL has done over the years, and to give them their due. you should be smart enough not to talk s**t about something you have no clue about. You want the real truth?
Both speakers are nothing until you do something with it, the overal result is derived from ones ability to understand the product or follow directions.

To some extent I am going to have to agree with cujo on alot of stuff....
You can find alot of brands from RE to treo to shocker to SRT to BA ect. that share many of the same spiders/cones/baskets/surrounds/magnets/backplates/VC's ... maybe they wind thier own coils or have some other parts that are unique...
But, it seems to me like these companies probably just assemble the parts in different configurations and find something they like....
If the T/S specs look good for a sub (which they always will, the rest is designing the right box) and the glue holds together properly.... they are good to go...
JL designed absolutly everything on the W7 from the ground up... and while a few subs like the new XXX and adire's tumult have an edge over some others with XBL^2, JL still has them beat for performance....
hehehe... on a side note I can look at my asian source catologs and find parts for many 'namebrand' woofers.....
