Takin back and install

So this EI comes in and wants the best so I sold him 2 type-x 10's and an m1005 with a 9851... he comes in yesterday and says that it doesn't sound good so I go and sit inside and he's bull****ting me it sounds good but the stock speakers sound like ****, i told him we can install new speakers so it sounds good, he then goes off about how the trunk rattles and I said that it would be $150 to do the trunk lid and another $200 to do the trunk, he flipped out and said that was too much, then said some s**** in punjab and I took off because he was insulting me in another language, he drives off then comes back 10 mins later telling me that I have to take it all out and he wants a refund, I said no we can swap the type-x's for type-r's so he'll get a little more outta the amp and that was a no. So my question is what should I do, I don't think I should take back anything because it's well over three weeks old and he's being a dink (I know that's how people are when they aren't happy) and I'd rather keep the sale.....

Keep the sale, educate the customer on what he needs to do to solve the issues. Educate him as to why the panels are vibrating. Educate him as to just adding subs will not make it sound better. Lay out a game plan for him to follow that will lead to something. He wanted the best you had so you sold him what he wanted. Now he has the be educated on how it works and what it's limitations are. Buyers are liars and for the most part... stupid like doorknob. Take the time to help him learn in a way that he understands.

so does anyone think that it was too much to charge him for the sound deadener, I don't.... when he comes in I am goin to suggest he get type-r components, to make it sound better (obviously) and go through why it sounds like **** (old speakers)and rattles (hello 1000wrms), honestly it doesn't rattle that much but enuf to make a paki pissed off.... sorry if I offend anyone I'm just not havin good times with paki's these days.....

Bubba you sound like a cool dude, but please could you slow down on the racial comments?
Back to your CLIENT -- it would almost guess that he is having a little buyer's remorse. this is usually brought on by:
1) One of his "buddies" who knows everything and has told him that his system sucks (most likely because it is louder than his own or he thinks another brand of gear is better).
2) Another shop is trying to talk him into their gear. Not too likely now a days, but you never know...
3) He is a dink; however, think of him as a challenge -- if you can make him happy, you can make anyone happy. Tell him you will give him a "deal" on the front speakers. If he is too cheap to buy components and an amp, sell him some efficent coaxials and cap them from 200hz up (he is probably deaf anyways).
-- just my 2 cents -- sometimes I am glad to be out of retail.

I agree,
Keep your racist comments to yourself!
I do agree with Mike, try to save the sale. Your sold the guy a ton of gear for 100Hz and down. Explain the benefits of some sound deadening material and some better quality front speakers & amp that can 'keep-up' to his new subs.
If the customer does not want to spend a few more bucks, you may have to down grade the customer on the sub/amp to get him a balanced system that he is happy with.

sorry guys I shouldn't have just gone off on the board.... but it was time to vent.... I just lost it. Sorry to anyone I offended. I NEED to save this sale.... he's just very very difficult to deal with. He's telling my manager that it was bought 10 days ago and he knows when it all went down because it was just before his honeymoon... LIAR!!! lol I'm going to take the type-x's 10's out and do type-r's but go to 12's and still keep the same amp. Should be a little better and still talk to him about new fronts but tell him to ditch the rears.....

How is that going to be better? He is complaining about the SQ. What was he promised this would do for his system in the first place. Maybe he was under the impression (right or wrong) that spending all that money was going to get him a much better sounding system. Were his goals even discussed? I like to give cusotmers the benefit of the doubt, I have heard salesman say what they thought they meant, but it wasn't what the customer thought they heard.

he told me that his stock was fine I mentioned to him that the deck would put out more power than his old one and would therfore make it distorted... but whatever, I need to relax and not think about it right now

The only reason his front speakers are distorting is he is turning the deck up trying to keep up with the back end of the vehicle.
Better front speakers and a small amp on the front is probably the only way his system will sound better.
Downsize his rear amp and subs, put some good coax in and an amp on the front, treat with sound deadening and things should be ok.
Or get some more money from the customer and leave the back end alone but pay some attention to the front end.
If the customer has lost trust in you, you should turn the deal over to your manager and let him handle the person to person interactions with the customer.
