Sundown Audio SAX-1200D or SAZ-1500D and a pair of Sundown Audio SA-12's
That would be great for the budget and for the music genres you listed.

While this was not asked, with $1000 what I would seriously consider doing is upgrading the speakers in the car first.. Bose is crap, there's a reason it's factory installed equipment.. :/

Just my 2c

If you want to take this suggestion further just say so.

Better advice.

Keep in mind that the setup I suggested would make snot involuntarily come out of your nose, give a full body massage, and make you want to throw up after awhile .

Are you okay with using all of the space in the back? The box should fit squarely between the wheel-wells and be flush with the rear-seat height, so even though you may have the room it's wise to make it fit where it can, that way you may get some space left over at the back instead of useless space at the sides. You might not be able to even fit 16-20 cubic feet (internal after displacements). For instance, 22 x 42 x 42, outside dimensions, is roughly 22.5 cubic feet EXTERNAL, which equates to roughly 18 cubic feet internal after displacements. Yeah, I suggested a huge box.

I would have suggested higher-power subs, but if you don't want to get into the headache of buying a bunch of extra batteries, a beefy alternator ($400+), and having a whole mess of wires than more cone area + lower power will get you serious bass too.

If you can't find a place to audition speakers/subs, ask people here if you can listen to their stereos or buy 2-4 subs (15" or 18") that are internet-known for detailed, tonally accurate sound.

I've been to 4 shops in the area - hi-fi, EHR, gain, and goldstar. The best, and only one I'll go to again is East Hamilton Radio (easthamiltonradio.on.ca). They'll most likely try to sell you some much worse subs in a much worse sealed box for more money, you can't blame them, they think they know what gear is good (they sell the mainstream stuff), I doubt they've heard of IA & AQ. They just have a lot more experienced installers, and do a good job. They might charge more for install as a result (it's the largest mobile audio store in Canada last time I checked), but you get what you pay for. The car audio & home-theatre departments are pretty rad, there's nothing like seeing/hearing some $10,000 subwoofer cabinets for 2 10's.

You might just want to buy speakers first, and you'll definetly want to audition those before buying as they all sound a little different. You might want stock speaker sizes (like 4x6) or even better, a full range of seperate speakers (two 1"/two 5.25"/two 6.5"/two 8"). Nice speakers installed correctly, you're looking at $1000, and for the quality of sound it'd be soooo worth it.

I just read that and snatched a fly's wings off its back in mid flight.

I might be able to help you out. I am close by and usually in Btown every Saturday. I can get you all the bass you want in there for under the $1000 mark. Let me know if you want to meet up. I can make some good suggestions for you and you can hear my car with a single 12 on 650watts in a trunk and let me know if you need more.

16-20 cubic foot ported box tuned 30-35 Hz.

You might not have enough for shipping, it would be close.

... then $1000 later, buy all the same stuff and run two bridged 1200D's @ 2 ohms on 8 15's in a big ported clamshell.

If you won't want to upgrade and have wood available to stay in budget, 4 Audioque SDC2.5-15's on an AQ 2200 for $1025+.

theres a canadian distributor for ia

Why pay more when you don't have to?
