As mentioned before, I am a total newbie to car audio. I just want to improve the quality of car audio, not compete in SQ competitions. I am told that the stock seven-speaker system in my 2002 Nissan Sentra GXE is quite good (four speakers, two tweeters, crappy sub). I am going for an all-Clarion setup since my stock speakers are already made by Clarion.

DXZ835MP ProAudio head unit
APX401.4 amp to power my speakers
APX401.2 amp to power my sub
XW1000 ProAudio 10" sub

I know a friend who will be building me a box for my subwoofer and installing everything.

Here is the dilemma ... I have another friend who gets me amazing deals on the Clarion hardware. The catch is that the stuff I get is non-refundable. If it's defective, yes, I can get it exchanged, but if I screw up and ask for non-compatible components, then I'm stuck with them.

So ... my questions? Is this equipment "compatible" with each other? Do I need anything else besides the dash kit for the deck and the appropriate wiring?

Thanks

Everything looks fine man, my friend has the 835 and I personally think its an awesome deck for the price.

1 question is if the 401.2 does 380 x 1 @2ohm which im guessing it does. If thats true then everything looks to be in order.

Another friend of mine wondered this as well ... that is, if the APX401.2 is capable of a 2-ohm mono load. A good question since this is not mentioned in the specifications.

The answer is YES ... I emailed Clarion and they reassured me that the APX401.2 does the two ohm mono load that I need :-D
