I was at Audio Magic here in London and they have one of them 32" or 34" woofers and the Audibahn rep told them not to really push the sale on one cause they last like 10-15min then they blow up... I guess the cone is just extremely heavy to keep it moving properly or some **** like that.. It's a pretty ugly woofer they didn't have it running just sitting on the floor...

Yeah fun to look at probably, but I woul rather have a wall if I was going for SPL. Christ, you could probably still make a wall lighter than this monster. Anyone that actually shells out the money for one of these probably isn't the brightest in the car audio department. Definitly not worth that high amount of money.

So for phun I called MTX... They dont have T/S parameters yet... But the guy I talked to (had to ask someone else in R&D) said the only difference between the 'SPL' and 'SQ' versions are DVC 2ohm or DVC 4ohm coils...

I must be clairvoyant....

LMAO, this thread is hilarious. So whats the deal behind Clarions old 32" woofer. I know its off the market. I was on the Treo Website.... and under "accolades" They said that Team BS used the CSX12 ... which is a DVC. They also stated that some competitors were using quad-coil subs... as in 4 voice coils???

what the heck kind of sub has 4 coils? wow, I thought triple was enough... is either triple or quad even needed? Like DVC as far as Im concerned is fine for realistically everything. But then again... Im a about this extreme SPL stuff

Jebus freakin christ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is clearly stated that the woofer is availible with different COIL configurations and also different CONE configurations.
So your both right and both wrong.

All over a freakin woofer that HAS NOT HIT THE STREETS YET.

Get a winter hobby people your starting to drive me nutts.

The website dosen't say anything clearly.. that is part of the fluff marketing..

The guy I talked to said cones/suspension were the same.. just diff coil config... Tim seemed to catch that, others did not..

SPL... I have never heard of a sub with three voice coils..... having four coils just gives an extra wiring option over DVC... 4 1ohm coils can give .25, 1, or 4ohm loads...

Edit: Thats like having 'SPL' 'SQL' and just 'SQ' modes all built into one coil according to MTX's logic...

There is a sub by PG (not made any more) that has 3 voice coils.

dbDon is also working on a sub with 3 coils... the PSI... not sure if it will ever see the light of day though.
