I dont need to drive an H2 to tell you its an overpriced turd...

Common man.. MTX plays up the fact that it weights 320lbs... it is obvious that they are trying to convey BIGGER IS BETTER and HEY LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME, LOOK WHAT I HAVE... !!

If you dont like my attitude or my opinion thats fine... but the personal attack was pretty weak...

Like MTX must be your favortite brand or something

I just wish people's opinion had some actual or practical reasons other then bending over and squirting out an opinion..

The sub only retails for $7999..............

It's a statement piece............the wanted to do it, the wanted to do it.........they did it........

Had to use a special military magnatizer to do it but they did it...............

And yes it performs................it was designed and WILL BE SOLD to the guy with to much money, with the SUV on to big of wheels and wants to show his peeps that he has to much of everything.........

On a side note..........if it was a ED or a RE you guys would be crapping your pants and saying how awesome it was..............cause it has a mainstream brand name on it you claim it won't work and won't sell............

^^wow, Tim knows, Tim knows. excuse my ignorance, yes I have lots of it, but whats ED? I never heard of that before. man oh man, for $8k USD, crap cakes, YOu can buy how many Treo CSX18s that'll blow that out of the water. Didn't Clarion also have a 32" woofer? I remember seeing this gigantic black WOK when I walked into this audio store here in Calgary a few years ago, I honestly didn't think it was a subwoofer,

So I said to the guy, "what is this for? a Giganitic Stirfry buffet for Customer appreciation day?"
He laughed and said no, it was Clarions direct competition for Audiobahns 34" woofer.

WOW, that was a nutty sub, I'll bet if both that Clarion and Audiobahn had monsterous magnets with lots of excursion, those would be SPL beasts. I wonder how many 15s that one 34 would equal as far as cone area, and the amount of air to be moved would be concerned.

by the way, does anybody have the T/S parimeters on the sub, I'd like to load them up on BassBox and see what that sub can do.

If it was an RE we would know that xmax is linear with low inductance, and it would be 1/3 the weight....

engineering vs. markiteering..

Since you bring up RE.. 2 xxx 18s would hang at a fraction... I guess Iam secure with the size of my member and would prefer performance over perception.. thats just me... and I did say it was sorta cool BTW...

Tell me Iam wrong that fs would be way too low for SPL competition... tell me Iam wrong that you could get the same performance for less money with different equipment... tell me Iam wrong that the thing weights 300lbs because of thier marketing department.... tell me Iam wrong... YOU CAN'T CAUSE IAM RIGHT..

Large companies push the envelope. Especially the military. Initial projects range from simply impractical to grossly unfathomable. However, the subsequent knowledge/technology often becomes more refined and some if it eventually trickles down to the consumer market. Look at the initial Stealth bomber project. Costs were unbelievable. But the subsequent technology is now available and will be applied to the next generation of combat aircraft. This is how we have: DVD players that cost a fraction of what the first VCR did; extremely powerful computers at reasonable costs (coming down in price every few months!); tiny cellphones and GPS units that communicate with satellites but are relatively cheap; etc. etc. We get the trickle down benefits.
Perhaps the 300 lb. sub is all show no go. Or perhaps there's some technology to it that we'll see on some better 12's in the future. Who knows. We're surrounded by some good products - they came from somewhere. Very few were spontaneous, overnight creations. Some things change and some don't. Good products make their way into acceptance/reverance; poor ones fall by the wayside.

I agree with Tim,

RE & DD are boutique brands and they have a following...

It is very possible that main stream manufactures can manufacture and market world class subs & amps...(usually at an economy of scale that makes the product affordable to a larger demographic )

Many world records are held by mainstream companies in SPL comps.

(ED???? according to TV commercials = erectile disfunction)lol

Timmy, thank you for making it clear that there is someone with a brain out there.

First off Haunz I will tell you that you are wrong about the FS and its relation to how that woofer will perform with SPL. If you knew something about the woofer and actually seen it(as DWVW noted) you would know that it has a removable assembly that switches the woofers from SPL to SQ.

I will tell you that you are wrong about the RE better performace from half the money because your missing the entire purpose of the woofer and that is to make a statement and give the guy who has the money a woofer that is in another world. EVERYONE can do 2 RE xxx but not all can have that thing.

So you are wrong here.

Also on a side note from what I have noticed.

1. Your either letting your little 12ys old brother to post.
2. Your skitzo
3.You copy out of text books once in a while to make people thing your smart.

your posts range from highly technical and then asking a basic question like "do you think this woofer will be better ported"?

I am confused.
