George knows that you are running the output of an amp into the input of another amp and stepping down the voltage thru a converter. George knows that the quality is never going to be as good as a quality HU due to not being able to match up the input and output perfect. George knows that LOC's serve a purpose which is to keep a stock deck in ones car.

I'm using a LOC on my panasonic deck, I find that the sound quality isn't audibly degraded, and I have the added benefit of theives who break in t steal my deck not seeing RCAs and knowing to look in the trunk for more gear to steal

i have used the soundgate loc 6 or seven times and have found it to be amazing, now its a very good loc, 200$, not a 19.95$ stinger special. i like to use them as it allows you to still have factory dash cosmetics, having said that i wouldnt ever use the cheap garbage ones out there if i wanted any decent sound, but have had great success with the soundgate piece, which i think is a a2000 piece, that would explain why it wouled so well
