pioneer, i know where you are coming from with the idea of using alot of power. i agree that alot of power is ideal in ib. your train of thought is very logival. without a box, the only things controlling the cone are the woofers suspension and the amp and if the amp has poor damping factor etc, the control wont be as good. lots of power and woofers with good suspensions and a large vas is typically what i look for, but i have used woofers with a small vas and huige suspensions and had great success as well but needed lots of power

so would I be wrong to generalize and say that using an amp @4ohms is preferable, since the damping factor tends to be better. I am aware that every amp is different in this situation, but as a general rule, I believe most amps tend to have a better damping factor rating at 4 ohms as compared to 2 or 1 ohm. Logically, I would assume that this is preferable in general but definitely in an IB application.
