JL 8W7 or Infinity Kappa Perfect 12?
#1
Hi guys,
I am in the process of upgrading my car sound system. I already bought an Eclipse CD8053 HU and a Zapco C2K 2.0 amp.
I will run these fully balanced at 16 volts of input.
I am wondering which of these subs will give me the best performance?
My musical tastes are various but I listened for the most Trance (electronic music).
The amp can handle both sub.
What do you guys think?

I've heard the Kappa
I've heard an 13" W7
Haven't heard the 8"
I was thoroughly impressed with the 13" and if the little brother acts like that it is well worth it.
Also, I'd go for the W7 just for the sake when people say "Wow, that sounds awesome, Do you have a 12" back there?" Then showing them the 8" is always good for a reaction.

I wouldn't waste my money on Infinity. Poorly made and IMO don't sound all that good. I would choose W7 without so much as a thought.
However, as I'm sure you're aware, there is a plethora of options out there. To limit yourself to these two drivers wouldn't be in your best interests. There is something to be said for displacement when listening to Infected Mushroom or DJ Tiesto or whoever else.

Tiesto sounded best on my Stroker 15.
