Installer Question
#1
I am thinking of putting one of the stock 2001+ Ford Mustang 6-disc changers in my car (a 1995 mustang) and running my system off of it (RF 750x, RF 1500bd, IDQ 12s, etc.). Why? I prefer a stock head unit for security reasons.
However, I have been told that it may be the case that Ford interally equalizes the signal coming out of the unit...that is, it is not a flat signal, but may have some bass boost or other "internal" or "embedded' equalization that this equalization may be not defeatable...can anyone confirm this? Does anyone have experience with this?
Thanks to all..

well that and the 2001 deck won't physically fit in the 1995 dash, not to mention the wiring isn't the same.
The 1995 uses two staggered DIN sized locations where the 2001 uses a single double DIN spot.
1995 mustang uses the old for 2 connector system and the new a 1 connector. Big differences.

I recognize there will be some work involved in fitting it into the 95 dash...I will need new supports and a new radio bezel...but it will fit with somw work...wiring not an issue either...
Just need to know whether or not the internal equalization exists...

You will need to build a new custom radio supports and dash bezel, the main problem is that as you turn up the volume on that deck the bass will decrease, it's a built in non bypassible feature to protect the factory speakers from blowing, buying an aftermarket head unit would be easier and get better results.
