guess I should clarify that statement a bit more ..........
while different brads deffinatly do have different sonic differences ......
most lines sound pretty much the same IMO, example the 300 dollar eclipse sounds pretty much the same as a higer end eclipse but has way less features
same goes for pioneer, kenwood, alpine, ect..., ect....

Paying for SQ is pretty much a sham, in my opinion. You hit a point quite quickly where the sound quality gets no better ... then the headunits start putting expensive DACs inside to create a microscopic difference that can PROBABLY be realized in an anechoic chamber using relatively high-end home speakers (ie: stuff that would never go in a car). This is what our friends in the marketing department like to capitolize on, because it sets those units apart from cheapers ones. Copper and aluminum are another example of marketing tools.
How about this, start your car and sit in traffic ... you can have ANY car (hell Bentley Arnage, whatever). Close your eyes, do you think you can determine the difference between some DenonFord/whoever super-copper-unit and, say, a $200 Alpine from 6 years ago (remember, no EQ becase EQing is distortion and that isn't playing fair)?
You may say "Ya, but with the engine off" ... who sits in their car with the engine off and listens to their stere (remember, doors suht too, we don't want to be hearing birds)? "I do, when I am washing my interior" ... ok, does it matter if you noise level is 1dB lower when you're wiping your dash with a cloth or using the vacuum, especially with your doors open? A car system will never be better than my $3,000 home audio system ... and my house has A/C and heat without needing an engine running ... and couches .
Point is, there is a difference, only problem is that the car is a poop place to be putting HQ stuff. If you worked in a factory (that makes, say, chrome bumpers; you stamp them) and were allowed a radio at your station, would you pay $50,000 for some Anthem/Martin-Logan setup or buy a $300 JVC boombox that gets loud enuf to drown out the machines working in the background and won't break?
