I agree with Dereck here. Another set of 4" Eclipse speaker back in this afternoon after my last post. Self installed 3 weeks ago. My sales volume is not high by any means, just a small shop that has a couple of guys that bust their buns to get the job done. My argument is not weak at all, I'm the one who's paying the shipping charges. A weak arguement would be not having the documentation to back it up, which of course I do compliments of Purolator, Loomis, Canada Post and other local delivery services.

My experience with the Canadian audio scene has been poor to say the least.
If you want broad paint strokes then here is some.
I have never purchased audio equipment in my life, but started to 8 months ago and am enjoying the hobby. To date I have spend around 8k, and have integrated a computer and a nice car audio system.
1. I have had Canadian retailers say that my equimpent is crap or that what I am looking at is crap. Gee that really wants me to buy from them.
2. I have been told "oh sorry we don't give prices over the phone, so I drive an hour and a half only to get 10 bucks less off of list. I can shop at Sound Domain and not put up with this.
3. I have been to dealers where they don't know what they are talking about. That's a real value add.
4. I have saved over 50% buying equipment from reputable companies such as Sound Domain. I think they will be around for a while. 1-800 number, a fully staffed customer service department and no questions asked 30 policy.
5. Yeah if you buy from Bob with a history 2 transactions on Ebay it will be a nightmare.
6. Don't give a rats *** about a 25 dollar shipping charge if I need warranty work done in the U.S. and you know what? They actually answer the phone and treat me nice.
Sorry, but I want customer service, I want to be treated like my business actually means something and I want the best possible price I can get.
I have also read on these boards get a relationship with a dealer, get to know them, then your costs will go down, and they will help you more. Ummm no, in the U.S. they realize the customer is king, they earn my trust and business, not the other way around.
The impression that I get reading these boards is that the friggin sky will fall if we don't buy the over priced stuff in Canada.

Hehe.. just wanted to say guys, that I was being a bit of a poo-mover when I asked the question about poor product.
I know exactly where you're coming from. In the end it is really up to each individual to decide if the hassle of dealing with the US is worth the potential hassles.
When I purchased my 12" Kicker L5 from SoundDomain it was certainly worth my while.
Not only did I save abou $200 by the time it got to my door, but I also got a free Dynamat trunk kit.
There was 1 retailer in town who sold them and I have had bad experiences with them in the past. So if I had to spend an extra $50-$100 to ship it back down to Kicker to get repairs I felt it was well worth it.

After reading this post in its entireity I agree with ^^^^. But there is one thing that disturbs me. And that is I myself am a car audio store who prides himself on customer service and knowledge. I realize that there are crappy retailers out there but not all of us are. Hey you are my bread and butter and I never forget that. So Do not put all of us in the same category!!! There is deals to be had with a wealth of knowledge that would put sound domain to shame. Yes you have to look . Might as well hang an american flag on our side of the border.
