we have had no problem getting cars out, never less that 30 cars and almost 40 in penticton and vernon of all places, and we have over that pre registered for our kelowna show in august. all of our sponsors were very giving with support with both thier time and their prizes. these whows dont happen without them and it seems that they might see a glimps of hope in sq in particular shows becoming more popular, and if time would have his shows on the same day as ours (j/k) we would support his shows as well
timing has been tough this year, we have had 4 shows so far and culminating with the finals. it takes a ton of time getting sq cars ready for a show, spl cars could show up with a turd on the dash and it wouldnt be out of place. sometimes it seems there isnt enough time in the day to get the cars ready, support all the shows you can, run a business, have a shred of a life, and try to have 4 or 5 shows of your own in a season. i cant believe that it was already august

Actually, the maddening thing is when you get TONS of calls, people all saying they are coming, they get directions everything and then the turn out sucks..............

I believe the future of the industry lies in the hands of the amateurs. They need to be hooked or bit by the "bug". They are the ones with the most genuine passion, start the friendly rivalries and spend the most money. Shows need to cater to that person.
Amateur classes.
Trophies 1st-3rd (certified scores on a Certificate for the rest of the competitors)
Some shwag giveaways.
Fun. Interaction from the event sponsor and judges with positive feedback for EACH and EVERY competitor.
I've said before...instead of T-Shirts....a small decal with the name of the shop and the name and year of the event.
The decal is advertising for the shop and it may help classing "amateurs" in the future. I for one would love to have the decal.
That way I could have one for each show...kinda like those bigass motorhomes have plastered all over their *** end that you get stuck behind for 30kms.

^ Back in the day there were a couple of shops that gave out 3"x1" trophy plates with the shop logo and the date on it. Not too expensive and kind of nice to affix to a dash or dedicated panel in an install.
IMO, the biggest hurdle and the biggest make-or-break for a show is promotion. People have to know it's coming or they won't.

i agree in a lot of ways with u leathal! we just need to keep everyone exited and hope that we are not turning people off instead! when we start having conflicts with one another as industry members i think that this is one of the most counterproductive things that we could possibly do to our selves. lets just all do our best to get along and support oneanother!
