The Future

Ive had quite a few conversations lately with positive and negative people.
I really try to make both come together and to make both enjoy the fruits of everyone's labor. Id really like for all of us to come together and work as a team.
But it is difficult when attitudes conflict and strategies go astray.
The more people I meet the more opposite attitudes we find. Not every 2 people are going to come together and unite. We knew this. But we thought that of the golden rule. “do onto other as you wish them to do onto you”. We have tried to be polite and respectable, we have tried to be positive and we have tried to be accommodating.
We tried our very best.
Here is what I see from this positivism.
Western Canada has had more records than ever before. Western Canada has had more shows than ever before. There are more Western Canadian companies hosting shows than ever before. The db drag rep is in Western Canada, the Usac rep is in Western Canada. The Iasca regional rep is in Western Canada. All in all there is a growth in the area that has not happened in a while. And I applaud the dealers, reps, directors, and competitors that have made a 100%……200%..…300% growth in this area.
My advice is this.
Keep up the positivism, support your local shows. Lets keep growing and building this industry. Together we add value to the efforts that we put forth. See you all at the next show.

kinda another thing to add to that is somehow we have to, I don't know how to put this, get set dates at the begining of the year so we don't have dual shows happening the same day.... example Aug 14th.... HzEmAll and I are having shows, Aug 28th there's that revscene.net show and then Dave's, not that the revscene shows really going to take anyone away but still..... I just think we need to let everyone know what days people are planning to have shows and then we can have more support to each show...

there is no control on the dates. hz emall laid out his dates way in advance. rev scene holds thier show annually. AVU is show in vancouver and are not intending to attract outside competitors. These are local shows in thier respective cities. which are in excess of 3 hrs apart.
rev scene will not affect daves show nor the other way around.
there are 6 events in 2 weekends from today.
Visions Kelowna
AVU Richmond
Kamloops
Hot Night in the City Kamloops
Cartoys Seattle
Hz Emall Surrey
there are guys that will not leave town to goto your show. and yet there are guys that will only goto db drags and there are guys that will only do iasca. your right it is a bit frustrating but it is what it is. local shows in different cities under different sanctions. enjoy them all cause last year it was crappy not having any.
a competitor asked me today what show to go to. and the only advice i could offer him was
support your local shows
cause we are
lets have fun doing it.

oh I understand but I saying to get more support not just from the locals have shows that everyone can make or at least try to make.... I know nothing is going to take away from Dave's show...... (Man I wet myself thinking of the time to be had!) but it'd be nice to get at least people from the Interior and areas to take a trip to the coast.... I would but every show is either a Fri or Sat.... and the sunday shows have either been ours or I have to work and it's kinda hard for the guys in retail to make it...... because they are the ones to the word to the consumers that walk through the door and might be interested in this type of sport!

It is very frusterating when shows are laid out in advance and people still go ahead and book a show the same day, both shows lose...............when I set my dates back in the middle of April I checked with all the sanctioning bodies as well as several of the car show date calendars and stayed away from certain weekends and still shows get booked the same weekends...............Car Toys was nice enough to convert their usual 2 day event to a one day event so that it didn't conflict with my show on the 14, that was a class act..................

its the chicken or the egg. shops are open on sat and fridays. so no interior shop will come out west. and no shop out west will come inwards on a saturday. sunday is a day off for many shops so it gets swarmed for shows. There are many other companies that asked for shows on this particular month. and were postponed. Bubba, hot night in the city is a show that happens each year. and it would seem pertinent to have shows on this weekend. and local to kamloops. but cartoys has thier show each year also. but it would be nice to have only one show per weekend and we'd make all of them. tims show makes this weekend a double point iasca weekend within 2 hrs of each other. it was only correct that 2 shows happen this weekend to attract more competitors. but i dont think HNIC or Cartoys would have said. ILL CHANGE.
so we gotta roll with the punches and keep on trucking.

I know all about balancing which shows to attend since it's quite a haul for me from the Interior and my vehicle is not too fuel efficient.
I love it when shows are booked each weekend with enough notice. I planned my 2 week (3 weekend) holidays so I could attend:
Visions Kelowna DBDrag/USACi Aug11th (might be late)
Kamloops DBDrag?/USACi Aug14th (90ish% chance of attending)
Visions Calgary DBDrag Western Canadian Finals Aug21st (not positive on this show---may head to the Island instead)
Kelowna DBDrag/USACi-Western Canadian Finals Aug 28th (I WILL be there and BURNie WILL make an appearance)

its hard to have a show without some sort of conflicting show of some sorts happening at the same time. be it a show and shine, iasca, usaci or whatever. that is why has chosen the usaci/db dragracing combo. db drag is a more recognized format for spl and attracts more com petitors for our shows. usaci was a natural choice for me as it is my opinion that usaci as an organization is superior to iasca. although i do prefer the idbl rules over db dragracing the usaci sq/idbl show didnt make much sense until the unified finals was announced and by that time it was too late to change. next year our shows will be usaci sq and idbl under james(westecs) and co/promotions, our show dates will posted earlier(jan/fen 2006) so as to give everyone a heads up and try to keep the conflicting dates to a minimum. this should keep everyone happy
i agree with pat, there does seems to be a glimps of optimism in the idustry and lets all hope that the momentum keeps up. these shows benefit everyone from competitors to retailers and that can only be a good thing

I can tell you this.............if I have a crap turn out on Aug 14...............I am done..............I will do strictly show & shine......................
People bitch about no shows and then they never attend..................
Return on investment says it's not worth it at all...............
