Why is it that we get paid so much less in ontario? It seems that we bust our ***** and all we get is 30,000 a year! That's 30,000 gross not net.

Montreal/ area is about the same. I had to work at a few different shops and actually get myself as a installer in demand before I started making good money.

With the cost of living here it doesn't leave alot for other things than the basics. When I read this thread it makes me feel like we work for free. I worked with seductive he's a good guy and deserves more, we both do for that matter. It just seems that everyone else makes more. I'm wondering if the guy's in BC make more because the cost of living is higher there? If there are any other BB or FS guy's around it would be nice to see what the pay rate is around here. In my perticular case it's about that time of year when I'm due for a raise. I'd like to know what the market actually is.

I have 2 friends than went to red deer and fot macmurray and both are making close to $80k/year. I caught one of them on MSN recently and had a nice long discussion and it works out with cost of goods, and housing differences that we both have the same liquid cash when all is said and done. Montreal is pretty low cost as far as living expenses go and pay is relatively good. Normally I'd be offering less money to hire a capable installer, but in this area they are so few and far between that you have to dangle a godlen apple just to pull them out of the woodworks

Different areas have different policies. Once an installer has proven themselves I'd have no issues giving them percentages. But hiring someone new can be dangerous, specially if hired on a percentage base because as said above. You might get someone shady that cuts corners at every chance to bill more hours. it's a mixed bag. In theory it's the best way to do it, in practice it can bankrupt a business.

good size, I'll be a fair bit smaller starting out though, 500Sq ft showroom, 200sq foot storage/stockroom and 700 square foot install area (2 bays, 24x29ft.)
