...As you have spent, hmmm, none on my side, don't offer your opinions to it as they have little to no basis for discussion.
Quit trying to make this out to be what it is not. Puggsley up there seems to be grateful he bought a warranty. If he had not he would be in for a repair bill that will certainly be more than a little protection cost. You are using it as an opportunity to bash your favourite whipping boy: the evil chain store. You need a hobby man..
People buy car insurance but pray they never need it.
People buy home insurance but pray they never need it.
People buy life insurance and pray they never need it.
People buy product insurance and you say they got screwed. Yeahoksure... I guess you sell the stuff that never ever breaks...
And my total sales for warranties over the last 4 years is ZERO. I'm an installer remember..
Also, again, I never said it didn't happen to your customer - just that there has to be something more to it. If your customer paid for repairs that should be covered then they acted foolishly.

I had to add that I find it extremely amusing that you can stand there and say you have no idea how Future Shop's PSP program works and then tell me I don't know what I am talking about..
Maybe open the bay door when cars are running, eh?

I like big chain stores, they are neat, clean, you can get away from the sales reps or just tell them to buzz off and they do. They have great return policies, and best of all you can screw around with the demo boards all you want, and they don't care. Every indy I've ever been to, watches you as if you're a criminal just waiting to break something or have big stickers telling you not to touch the "holy demo board" controls. My business goes to those who give me the most value for my money...chains are winning.

^^^ I too have seen some really crappy (and I mean truly crappy) indie's, matter of fact that is why I chose Courtenay to move to in order to open my store. Both stores that I targeted are now out of business. So it can go both ways. There are a lot of really good indies out there as well.
Dukk, actually I'm sanding bondo right now, close but no banana. Hope you have a good christmas.

More than likely at your local Driftwood dealer... If you can't find one then hit me up by PM and I'll see if my competition across the street has any for you.
Dukk, you know what you just reminded me of, the two old guys on the muppets.....
