Extra Battery
#1
I would like to go about hooking up an extra battery to my system more as a back.I'm running a pretty big system for my 67 Beetle(all Kicker amps 2xZR240,ZR360 and a KX1200.1)so the extra battery would help a lot.So I need to know how to be able to charge it when the car is running.

Is this what you want -
An extra battery to run your system, while the car is off so you won't kill the battery for the starter?
If this is what you want to do, you will need a big relay (a relay that can handle as much amperage as your alternator can produce).
When the relay is off (it is receiving no power from the acc line from your ignition), the new battery is only connected to your stereo.
When the relay is on (it has been activated by the car being turned on and power being given to the acc line from the ignition) the new battery is connected to the other battery, and also then the alternator allowing it to be charged while the engine runs, without draining the other battery when the engine is off.
I hope this makes sense
