I am trying to see what the ultimate options are for a deck that's not out there now and I see a couple

1:A full featured deck like ones we already see but you add processing to it instead of having to get a separate outboard processor. Is it that much more appealing to have them bundled together, or is it simply like adding a clock to something that doesn't normally have a clock on it hehe.

2:A full featured deck like ones we already see but make it an "all in one" type deck where you don't need amps for your speakers and subs... so something like 75 watts rms x 4 and 200 watts rms x1 for your sub.

#1 would appeal to more hardcore guys, #2 more for the "general public" that simply wants to upgrade with little fuss.

BUT the industry in general is headed away from decks because it's getting harder and harder to not only replace stock units (because of non-audio related features built into them) but to better them even heh. Cars stock come with better and better units.

what was the small run of decks produced overseas with all the fancey onboard DSP called?! They were available some years ago, but many had firmware issues.. who knows what I'm talking about here ??

I'd like to see that deck re-created, only better....

Over the years I have had MANY MANY DD H/U's(Kenwood, Alpine, Blaupunkt(first screen with Dolby Digital built in) and MANY flagship single dins. I currently use the kenwood DNX 8120, processing screen to screen is definitely fast enough(much faster then Alpine) and the feature set is more then I will ever use.

For me I have an old Alpine CDA 7998 that has all the feature I really need(other then Ipod control) Useable features such as 3-way capability, time correction, 6,12,18,24dB crossover slopes, and no internal amp, massive Signal to noise, etc...... really what else do you need to be built in?? I am a big believer that each section should have a single job, all I want from my H/U is pre-out as clean as possible and everything else should be outboard.

I understand that having 30band eq's and 8 channel DSP's built in would be awesome, but by having these things outboard it is less processing that the actual head is doing and would then speed up the processes if that is your ultimate goal. I really depends on if you are looking to make this for the masses or for the aficionado.

My $0.02

you guys are funny. a deck that has ALL of those features would cost a million to produce and would cost two million to buy retail.

Not puttin down the idea or nothing , some might want MORE features etc.
But just as everyday average user, Make them faster... imo is kind of like a remote, why u need a remote for somthing thats well within arms reach?'Sure they do have a use a few times but in general wen ure driving do u honestly use the remote?' i have used mine 4 or 5 times in like 5+ years.

To me if i can tweak the crap EQ on my ipod/mp3 and have it sound right coming out of the amps the deck could have no functions id be happy.
Just my opinion.
