Paylex is a term for the type of material that most automotive manufacturers use for their interior material. The material that I use I have nicknamed it "houlio", the stuff that I used for years in my Toyota, Regal and several other cars is seat material from a 88 base model Firebird. The stuff I used in the cop car was from a GM of around the 91-94 era, but I can't remember what exact car it was. I get it all from Class Sea Textile, which used to be Vancouver Upholstery. It does not stretch what so ever, so it can be a bitch to work with, I have been able to do curved panels with it but they take hours and hours..........the wheel well covers in my Toyota took 5 hours and 3 people a side to do and there is a seem in them which you can't see. If you get a paylex type material and you are going to edge something or seam something make sure it has a black thread count, not a white count or you will see the white back thread when you "bend" the material.
