Here the deal, i have a sony Xplod deck, which is my first problem lol. I bought it from Canadian tire last July and had it installed at Future Shop. So the thing worked great this whole time then the other day im driving around and i shut my car off then turn it back on and the faceplate wont light up. So i drive around a little bit more than all of a sudden it turns on so im like WTF. Did it again the other day so i went to future shop and asked the install guys what the problem would be. He said it was probably one of the connectors on either the face plate or the deck that were out of place or something. I went home, checked that out and everything was fine, face plate still wasnt working. The next morning i leave to go to school and the thing turns on. Well it happened again today so i called Canadian tire. I asked her what she could do for me besides warranty work (id much rather just take my money back ya know), she said take it to future shop incase it is their fault then bring it back to crappy tire and they will send it away.
Basically my question is what is my problem here and how can i fix it? or how can i get canadian tire to give me my money back instead of getting it repaired?

If you bitch and complain they might give you your money back.

It all depends on their policy. I know someone who bought stuff from Future Shop, was supposed to get exchange but he talked to them, go the manager involved, then they offered him store credit.

After a bit more whining they gave him all 800 dollars back even though his purchase was 2 months old.

Good luck,

Getting a full refund(hell, getting a partial refund) on a deck you have had for nearly a year would be quite a feat.

I think the best outcome for you will be getting the deck repaired under warranty(or they send you a refurbed deck). Good luck!

1. Try resetting the deck. Most of them have a little button you can get at with a pin.

2. Blow on it. I don't know if the deck has a detachable faceplate. If it does, maybe some dust got in the connector from the faceplate to the deck. Just like with the old Nintendo games. Give em a good blow and they'll probably start right back up again.

Don’t expect miracles here, you have a baloney sandwich about 3/4 eaten don’t expect a refund because it isn’t what you wanted. The plan they have given you is fine...Make sure there is not a power supply issue (Future Shop) and if it is a deck issue, take it back to Canadian tire. Consider a new deck but use any warrantee guarantees you may have as well.
