Critical Mass UL

Don't be misled by their published Thiele/Small parameters. The 2.83V sensitivity is quoted with the D1.5 coils wired in parallel, ie. a 0.75 ohm load; that's just over 10 Watts. If you're wishing to compare it's efficiency against other speakers, it will likely be ~87-88 dB at 1W/1m.
The advantage of the UL12 is the MMag approach, which nets improved BL linearity without sacrificing any BL in the heart of the stroke (ie. lower distortion with no sacrifice in efficiency). Still, there are better subwoofers out there, in my opinion, and definitely better subwoofers for the money if we're looking at MSRP.

I've never heard a ported box sound as good as a sealed box, or a sealed get as loud as ported. My XXX doesnt get below 30hz too well but it's loud enough above it (pushing it). Yesterday I switched it out for 2 sealed Eclipse SW8200's on 750W (half their rms) and they didn't get very loud with the gains up, but they had much better extension, below 30hz was shaking in the car, and it sounded great. Just how much louder could they get with 1200-1500W? I want a higher SPL than the XXX and SQ like the Eclipse. I can only afford around $400 per sub/amp, and I have max 4 cuft feet in my trunk that would require 2 separate boxes to get in. I was told I shouldnt seal 4 SW12s and upfire because it would have cancellation and no gain. I don't know what to do, I have a great sub and I'm not happy with it. I also want to have the max SPL of my XXX in my next setup from using 1/2 to 3/4 of the power so I'm not killing the subs/amp listening to it at XXX level.
