Hey Defro, on that Neon, have you tried sticking a rag into those door pod ports to see if any noticable difference in performance. I was just wondering as per our earlier discussions........ and was serisouly interesting in hearing the difference from your point of view. What do you notice when A/B-ing those two setups. Also, have you RTA-ed the curve for that ported door setup (with everything else off). I'd be interested in seeing that if it's at all possible. Reason I'm asking is because mid-bass is so important. If there's a noticable difference in the curve and from what your ears are telling you, I'd like to know about it.
Thanks,

i told ya'all this before, there was 5db difference between 50-60hz alone, so you can imagine the sound difference, in testing i tried blocking the vent and trying different x-over points, the sealed box gave me less lower midbass and didnt blend as well with my dash woofer, i had to raise the x-over point on the dash woofer to compensate and that caused whole new problems, the dash woofer works far better x-overed low. i also found the midbass to have far more attack in the vented box, kick if you will, now these speakers work very, very well vented, and as with subwoofers designed for strictly vented boxes, if you put them in a sealed application, they sound very bad,and put that same speaker in a vented box and its fabulous, all i did was apply the speaker in its most ideal box, but my car allowed it, many dont, all in all the sound difference was so massive that i will never go back so long as the vehicle and $$$$ allow

AVI has always provided specs for vented boxes for all their midrange and midbass speakers, and has always stressed they are designed and optimized for vented....so I'm not surprised you got such good results!
Same goes for their subs.
