Battery Woes
ok so lately I noticed my battery being a S.O.B and pretty much not wanting to start after everytime I stop the car. An hour later i'll try and the thing won't even turn over slightly. Lucky I got my motomaster battery booster.. but it's gettin kinda ridiculous having to boost myself everytime I want to go anywhere. I multimetered it and get 10.9v - 11.6v and once it's started it give me 14.4 like it should.. think it's time for a new battery or could something else be causing this? I am positive there is nothing else drawing current from my system as I have not changed anything in the last month or so.

hrmm.. With no leads or anything connected to the battery it was 10.6v.. Once I hooked up all the leads I noticed it went down to 8.6 I didn't put keys in ignition or anything.. plus it fluctuates when I got the leads on.. bounces around from 8.4 - 8.8 v but when all leads are off it hold steady at 10.6

hrmm.. ok just checked again an hour later and everything is holding steady at 10.6 so nothing else is taking current thank god.. looks like im off to get a new battery. Any reccommendations? not just for the battery but where to get the best deal right now.. I'm not running a 1000 watt system or anything but I would like to have a lil room to move up from my 250W rms total system I got right now.. I'm lookin for something to give me headway for about a doubling in power.. like 500w Rms.. and might as well throw in this question while im at it.. If I get a good enuff battery need I bother getting a .5 farad cap if I do push my system to 500 ?

Yep, in all probability your battery is fubar.
By what you've said, you don't really need an upgraded battery. Just a good new one should suffice, even after you do the 500w thing and cap.
But, if ya pony up for an Optima or Orbital or the like, you probably won't need the cap in the future.
So, if ya don't mind the extra 100 beans right now, get the Optima.
