Is it bad that each voice coil reads at 1 ohm?

Not if it's supposed to be a dual 1 driver......unless you have a fairly serious system I would suggest wiring the coils in series before you hook up your amp tho....

Well I thought it was dual 2 ohm.. but it sits prettily at 1 ohm, doesnt even fluctuate.

Good thing you checked... this will save your *** in future amp problems. lol As BRG mentioned, your going to want to wire the coils in series and find an amp that makes 2K+ into 2ohms. Now that AP 3K we were talking about before will become a good match for the sub and can be had for a decent price too.

To wire your sub in series:

Amp positive to coil 1 positive
coil 1 negative to coil 2 positive
coil 2 negative back to amp negative

If you jump the coil 1 neg to the coil 2 pos and check the other two terminals with a tester you will get 2ohms.
